b: Around the fifth month of pregnancy, the "nesting" instinct can set in. This is an uncontrollable urge to clean one's house brought on by a desire to prepare a nest for the new baby, to tie up loose ends of old projects and to organize your world.

Females of the animal kingdom are all equipped with this same need. It is a primal instinct. Just as you see birds making their nests, mothers-to-be do exactly the same thing. The act of nesting puts you in control and gives a sense of accomplishment toward birth. You may become a homebody and want to retreat into the comfort of home and familiar company, like a brooding hen. The nesting urge can also be seen as a sign of the onset of labor when it occurs close to 40 weeks of pregnancy.

We have always ran outside beating pots and pans with spoons on New Years... I'll never forget the time when I was about Jake's age and broke my mom's le creuset pot lid....I thought My life might end in 1990! I asked her this year if she remembered? She didn't really but she said she still has one pot without a lid and now she remembers why! My sister also remembered it clearly, we must have been scared :)

Millie has been obsessed with Happy Feet for about 2 months. When I saw the Happy Feet 2 was coming out we were excited to take her to the movies!

Then a few days after we saw the movie I received a free Build a Bear coupon! So we went to use it and there it was... A Happy Feet Erik the penguin!!!!!

We did it!! We switched over to a toddler bed! With baby boy coming it's time to make the switch and I would rather get her used to it while I still have a little energy:)

Friday we made the switch. We had a few thumps in the night and Millie coming to tell me she fell out of the her new bed, but other than that not so bad.

Saturday she declared "I don't hike (like) my new bed anymore!" But she slept in it anyway...Well kind of, I went to check on her at about 2 and she was on the ground in the pile of pillows I strategically placed on the floor to cushion any falls.

So... Um, we'll see how it goes tonight. I was thinking about getting a bed rail but Brad seems to think she'll learn she can't roll that way soon enough. I hope she gets it soon, I am tired!

I have been trying to decide whether or not I would dress up this Halloween? I always want to because I LOVE Halloween, but I didn't feel like spending a ton of money.

I Thought and thought about something fun I could do with my baby bump. I thought about painting it but Brad is out of town and so without his help I really couldn't swing that creation on my own.

As I was looking at Millie in her skeleton pajamas the light bulb went on! A PREGNANT SKELETON!!!

I would like to pretend I had a brilliant original idea but when I googled it as usual it became less original....Someone had already thought it up! (of course!)

But I was ok with that because I really can't draw so I needed some ideas to look at.

The work began! I found some images, drew it on freezer paper, ( I had never heard of this but WOW, I am hooked now!) cut it out, ironed it on, painted my design, pulled it off, fixed a few areas, and there you have it!!! My cute costume this year!!!! I am TOTALLY proud of my artwork!

I have big issues with many boy names I have seen or heard these days. Personally I don't like the made up names and I really don't like long names ending in -son for my kids.

I would like something that is not too popular but is common enough that people aren't continually asking...What is it?
I love the old fashion names coming back again such as Millie for a girl. I'm not sure you can do that too successfully with a boys name. Or can you? If this baby was a girl her name would have been Maggie.

I do like nick names and feel like if you have intentions of calling your child the nickname let's just name them that...

I'm diggin' the one syllable names such as Jake for a boy.
I like a strong masculine name that is cute for all stages of life: Baby, kid/teen and adult!
You know, one that sounds strong/athletic/smart! (I feel like Jake does just that!)

I have a Jake. (Not too popular, but it's been around.)
I love the name Jake! And that's what it is, just Jake.

I have a Millie. (Rare, making a comeback, again a name that has been around.)
After my grandmother Mildred, but everyone called her Millie. So we named her just Millie.

I'm not concerned with a middle name or our last name and how they sound with the first name chosen. At this point I am worried we will not have a name at all, so trying to mesh sounds with the other two names seems pointless.

Brad has the same thoughts that I have. We have a VERY short list of names that could be considered.

It's a VERY short list! We're not even sure on any of those names, they were just "ok" names that didn't offend us! We TOTALLY need suggestions!

PLEASE HELP!
I'm afraid our child will be nameless;)

I know we still have a little time but if I don't actively search, I know I will go to the hospital without a name!

Make sure you give me names you're ok with me taking if I like it:)

Creative Soup Bowls!

I just love, love, love fall! I feel my creative side kick into FULL GEAR this time of year!

Try this fun idea! Your family will love it, any kind of soup will work!

Buy some fun looking pumpkins, cut the tops off, take the seeds out, bake, scrape out the baked goodness then add that goodness to a soup of your liking. Finally, after your soup is made use the gutted pumpkins as bowls:) Fun, creative and yummy!!

Cream cheese, chicken, veggie soup.

(recipe I used tonight)

2 tablespoons butter
1 red onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
3 stalks green onions
1/2 cup diced carrots (about 2 regular carrots or a handful of baby carrots)
4 cups chicken broth
2-3 potatoes, peeled and finely diced (I like to leave the peels on potatoes, I used yellow, red and purple)
1 cup milk (I used cream, why not! Any kind will work)
4 tablespoons flour
1 (8 oz. package) regular or light cream cheese
2-3 (about 1 pound) boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cooked and diced
pumpkin meat

In a large pot, melt the butter and add the onion, garlic, celery and carrots. Saute, stirring often, for 3-4 minutes, until the veggies are slightly tender and the onions are translucent. Add the chicken broth and potatoes. Bring the soup to a simmer and cook, partially covered, until the potatoes are tender, about 10 minutes. In a liquid measuring cup, vigorously whisk the flour and milk together until smooth. Whisk the mixture into the soup, stirring quickly, and cook over medium heat for 3-4 minutes, until the soup begins to thicken slightly. Stir often to ensure the soup doesn’t burn. Soften the cream cheese in the microwave until it is very soft/melty. I usually place the unwrapped cream cheese on a plate and microwave it for one minute at 30% power. I like it really, really soft so it doesn’t leave lumps in the soup. Add the cream cheese to the soup in small tablespoon-size pieces. Let the pieces sit in the soup and warm through then whisk or stir the soup until the cream cheese melts and mixes in well. Add the cooked chicken and pumpkin meat, heat through. Season with salt and pepper. Serve.

Huggies come with two designs....

Millie REFUSES to wear the ones with birds on them....So now I have about 50 diapers she has a complete fit over if I even suggest she wear them. She is only wearing diapers at night so I'm not sure why she cares? I changed her in the middle of the night last night and she INSISTED I turn on the lamp so she could confirm that it was not the bird one!! Silly little Millie!
(p.s) I have decided I HATE Huggies. She leaks almost every single night and wakes up to be changed. ANNOYING need to use them up.

What is wrong with most of you!!?? LOL.
So obvious to me, maybe you guys are looking in the wrong place? Here is a picture with the arrow.

Can't you all see the two femur bones with little boys parts between? I knew before the doctor said a word!

I am totally surprised and excited. I have felt so much different this pregnancy, I was happy I had something to blame it on...Those stinkin boys :)

Gum on leather....

If your darling 2 year old decides she doesn't want her gum anymore and then your darling 9 year old sits in it and smears it all around on your new leather car seats then I have a trick for you!

I was so mad and tried several things. Then I found this trick...

To remove gum from leather car seats, first remove as much as you can with your fingers, gently, so you don't spread it out more. Then get clear Scotch tape or packing tape and use the tape to pick up the remaining gum. You may go through a lot but all the gum will come out. Works like a champ.

SERIOUSLY!! Everyone who commented said it worked so I thought I'd give that a try as well, nothing else was working. New as ever!!! It worked AMAZING!!!!

I am getting really chunky and for those of you who don't know and have probably been wondering.... It's true, I'm pregnant! I'm 14 weeks.

I am due in February again (Millie was Feb 28th), I am really excited and would love another girl only because I wouldl not have to buy anything for this baby if it was. I probably still would, let's be honest...But it makes me feel better to say that:) I would also LOVE Millie to have a sister to grow up with!

I am very happy and excited but I am getting a little depressed as well that EVERY inch of my body is LARGE and in CHARGE..ALREADY!

Embrace it! Right? I guess # 3 will do it to you!?

LAGOON part 3 (face painting)

Eliza wanted her face painted... Tiffany said ok and Eliza was ready to go! I said to Tiffany, "wow, you are a WAY nicer mom than I am!" I didn't really feel like $10 was worth it.

Millie was VERY interested in the face painting and watching every move!

SOo... Eliza was finished and we were ready for some more rides. I turned around to Grab Millie and where was she?? Up in the chair ready for her face paint!

I was like... Ok we'll do a little something. The lady suggested a rainbow. "Rainbows are a good idea" I said. Anytime you ask Millie what color something is she replies, "rainbow!"

So we did a Rainbow ($4) total rip off! The nice lady pulled out her mirror and said "do you like it?" Millie scowled and said "NO" while wiping it off!

Millie opened the book, pointed to the tiger and slammed the book shut! My sister Tiffany told me that she was pointing to the tiger on the sign telling her that is what she wanted....So I guess that is what she thought she was getting when we were giving her the stupid rainbow! :)

The lady held up the mirror and said " is this what you wanted?" Millie, with joy replied, "YA, I like it!"

Eliza and Millie both were in heaven the rest of the time and wanted me to take pictures and show them!

Tiffany loved to remind me the rest of the day how she was a "way nicer mom than me!" LOL! The things we do to make our kids happy!

LAGOON part 2 (cooling off)

We went to lagoon the other day! I can honestly say that I have not been to lagoon since I was about 16.
I have put it off for a long time on purpose!

Jake ALWAYS wants to go but I feel like it is totally white trash and I didn't really want to go spend any amount of time there.

I must say I was actually surprised at how fun and NON-CROWDED it was! We didn't wait in line at all. The bigger rides for the boys and Brad were only about a 5-10 min wait!

It helped that we went on a Tuesday in the middle of the day! We will totally go again!

If I had thought about it I would have brought all of our swimming stuff with us to feed the ducks. Liberty Park also has a huge place to play in water called the 7 canyons. It is little recreations of Utah's canyons! I LOVE it! It's fun and easy for the babies to play in, but the bigger kids also love it!

They have been working on cleaning up Liberty Park pond from the oil leak FOREVER! I drove by the other day and it was back in action! They re-modeled it so nice, with bridges, benches, flowers and ducks that don't take your bread :( kind of a bummer!

Seriously, they just float out in the middle and don't care that you have yummy homemade bread that you baked just for them!

Maybe they aren't starved yet so they don't know that your supposed to come eat the bread from the kids.

They should take a lesson from the ducks at Sugar House park that ATTACK you for your bread! If these ducks don't get it together, I will be baking for the Sugar House ducks from now on! ;)

With that being said, the kids still had a great time!

This memorial day we went to our family cabin! It's so nice to go relax, play, and just be with the people you love! Here are a few highlights!

We were down 3 with 2 outs and the last inning.... if we didn't do something then we lose.
Jake made a great hit and got 2 people and himself home which tied the game. So we each got another inning.
They didn't get any in on their bats, and we got one more person home on ours...WINNING the game!
If it weren't for Jake tying up the game we would have lost! So Jake was the HERO this game for sure!!
It was a super fun and intense game!

These games are SO much fun to be at for everyone, ESPECIALLY when it's nice and warm! Millie just roams around, plays and has so much fun! Now, if we could only get some more warm weather to play a little baseball!

Rain, Rain, go AWAY!

I have been going a little bit nuts having to stay inside all day with the rain and all.
Jake's baseball team has only had 3 of their 12 games because of the rain, so he is also frustrated.
I have been trying to figure out what I can do to make myself feel better and to pass the time, so I decided I would make some kids clothing!

I found the cutest book and I have been loving this fabric for months so I ordered both!
My DEAR friend Amazon/UPS delivered them today..........

This is how my day ended up and I actually feel much more upbeat today!

Millie might have 72 skirts and 89 dresses...But at least she will have a nice mom to go with them!

Mr. Jack Jack, (who feels like my child) had his 2nd birthday last week!
It was a Yo Gabba Gabba dance party and everyone had a BLAST!
Millie and Jack are SOOO stinkin cute together! They think they are siblings! Jack is who I watch everyday and when we don't have him on the weekends, Millie can't figure out why or where he is. She says "where Jack" and I say "he is home with his mommy" and she says " I wanna go home!" So cute and a little sad! They LOVE each other!

The weather BITES... It makes me feel depressed and we don't do anything besides sit in the house....So, that's why I have not been blogging.

For some reason I thought this was a little funny! Here is my story!

I was checking my bank account and I saw a charge for the "girls club" my heart started to pound and my mind starting to race... What in the hell is this.

I'm pretty sure I know Brad better than this!? He would NEVER go to a "girls club"????

I was about to lose my mind and call him with a "WHAT THE HELL" question. Maybe someone stole our credit card??

Just then it hit me that the charge amount. $55 was also the same amount the I made to the "boys and girls club" for Jake's soccer sign-ups.

PHEW.. I about made a phone call and about to turned into Satan. I would have felt like an idiot. But I knew that I didn't go to a "girls club" so who else would have?! LOL, LOL... Really, LAUGHING OUT LOUD!

How can this go by so fast! I feel like Millie was just born!

Now she is a spirited, sassy, independent, determined, two year old!

I taught her the sign for "happy birthday" and she is very proud of herself.

We have not been to the doctor yet so I do not know her stats. I will add them soon.

Millie is so fun/funny! she loves to be silly!

Millie knows a lot of sign language and Japanese and uses them daily. She can say pretty much anything you tell her to say.

Millie Millie is a very determined, smart, girl and gets exactly what she wants.

Millie LOVES animals and babies.
Millie LOVES dolls, purses and shoes:)
Millie loves to chew gum and loves suckers. I had to have an intervention on the candy giving the other day.
Millie has some sort of obsession with my sister Savannah. She asks about her ALL day long.
Millie loves to watch shows.... Currently in the lead: Yo gabba gabba and her Japanese video.
Millie loves to be outside, she is excited for the warm weather. (her mommy is too!)
Millie is OBSESSED with her blankie..And the tag on that blankie. She cannot do anything unless it is near. She has a maniac fit if I have to wash it.
Millie has decided "NO" is her favorite word and screams it all day long at everything. (annoying:)
Millie thinks everyone who is a mommy is her "mommy". Or maybe she just thinks that is a lot of peoples names?!
Millie is VERY coordinated! I am sure she will be a gymnast or athlete of some sort:)

We love this little saster and can't get enough of her! I could not imagine life without her and sometimes wonder what we did for entertainment before she was born!

It is with GREAT pleasure I present to you.........THE QUIET BOOK!
Seriously this was started 1.5 years ago. Not that it took that long to actually do, but I got sick of it and didn't finish. I also was rushing like a mad woman to give one to my sister LAST Christmas that I finished hers and not mine. I may as well given her 1 million dollars as her gift instead because that's how much I feel it's worth.
I cannot begin to tell you how much time and effort we put into making these. And while at the cabin this Christmas we cut out some more for extra pages, which will not take as much time as putting the actual book together!
Thanks Katherine for working your guts out with me on this!
Millie is now at a great age for this... She LOVED it on our ride home! She still needs a little help but gets the main idea!

Weaving-- feed the elephant by pulling it's tail(eats the peanuts)

Make a hen(Velcro)-- pick apple off the tree to put them in the basket(snaps)

Unlock the treasure chest--Hang up the clothes from the clothes basket.(notice the blankie matches Millie's:)

Button the flowers on--Try on the ring!

Braid the lions tail --Write a letter and put it in the mailbox!

Make a flower(Velcro)-- Match shapes(Velcro)

Noah's ark! Boat has a zipper and you take the animals out to play with, 2x2 of course!

I feel bad for anyone with birthdays in December... Especially after Christmas.

I feel like we just say.."ok what do we save for the birthday?"

Poor kid. If that were me I would celebrate my half birthday for sure instead!

Tiffany started a new fun tradition a few years ago.
We go to dinner with the whole family and exchange gifts for the names we drew for Christmas gifts.
It is very fun to be together with everyone... And she pays... Which is probably expensive but such a nice gift to have some fun family time/memories together and nobody has to clean up when it's over!
Then we go stroll temple square to see the lights and things. Millie loved the Nativity.

We were out of town at our family cabin and just got home. EVERYONE got sick one by one each day for 5 days... EVERYONE threw up... I cleaned it up and washed sheets which was not very fun.. For the first time in my life I gagged while doing so. We had puking in the truck on the way home, some on the way there... AND I lost my phone!!!!! ....NOW here we are just home and it feels SO nice BUT Millie just pooped out of her diaper and on the floor, literally a pile and a trail.... Diarrhea down her legs! BUT I went to turn on the bath and..... DRUM ROLL.... the pipes in our house are frozen making the bathtub not work and the toilets not flush. Just thought you ALL might like to know all of that!?

I need something alcoholic STAT!! ;)

( My plan was to update my blog from the holidays at the cabin.. Maybe next week will be better!! Fingers crossed.)

We went tubing at Gorgoza Park, then to see Santa in Park City last weekend. We had so much fun, Santa came down the lift in the dark with lit up lights that made it look like he was riding his sleigh with his reindeer!We cannot wait to return next year!! Millie did not want to leave!

We went to the Japanese market the other day and picked up some of our favorite things, including little sea weed strips that are salted and yummy to snack on! Turns out Millie Loves them! Often times Kenna gets bored... The boys have each other and she runs out of fun things to do..... This weekend she thought of a different way to entertain herself... AND everyone else!

The boys have a dress-up bag downstairs and Kenna decided to see what she could fit into. Keep in mind she is now
5 feet 8" and most of there costumes are a 5/6!

Try this EASY and very YUMMY recipe with your leftover turkey!
Perfect for a snowy, cold, night!

**Turkey soup with cornmeal dumplings**

Serves 4-5 - I usually double this recipe.

1 14-oz can chicken broth
1 cup of frozen, canned or fresh mixed veggies
1/4 cup chopped onions
1/2 cup water
2 tsp snipped basil
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp garlic powder or salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 cup milk 1/3 cup flour
2 cups cooked turkey

Combine broth, veggies, onions, water, basil, salt, garlic and pepper to a boil. stir together flour and milk then add to soup to thicken, add turkey.

*1 recipe cornmeal dumplings*

1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup shredded cheese
1/3 cup yellow cornmeal
1 tsp baking powder

- then combine -
1 egg
2 TBS milk
2 TBS melted butter

Stir all together then drop spoons fulls into soup. simmer COVERED 12-15 min. DO NOT LIFT LID until done.

Salt to taste and ENJOY!!
Our family LOVES this soup! Hope you will as well!
